The Hanging Pillar at Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh

It is an important archaeological and historical site in India and is known for its architecture and painting. The Hanging Pillar is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the most mysterious places in India due to its famous floating pillar. Among the 70 pillars at the site has one is hanging pillar without any support. People also pass objects under the pillar, believing that it will bring prosperity in their lives.

The Mini Desert at Talakad, Karnataka

Talakad is said to have been home to about 30 temples, 5 of which are Lingams representing the 5 faces of Lord Shiva. It is believed that a widowed devotee of Lord Shiva had once cursed the land, following which the village turned into this strange desert, where the river Kaveri mysteriously transforms into a swirling whirlpool.

The Tale of Twins at Kodinhi, Kerala

A village in Malappuram, Kerala has a large number of twin births. Once people enter the village, they experience doubles of everyone! It is also a home to over 200 pairs of twins and two sets of triplets. Furthermore, Kodinhi’s women who are married outside the village also end up having twins or triplets.

Levitating Stone at Shivapur, Maharashtra

The Hazrat Qamar Ali Darvesh shrine is not a usual shrine, it is known for a special rock that weighs 70 kg and can only be lifted by one means. To lift the rock, 11 people are required to gather around, touch it with their forefingers, and call out the name of the saint who placed a curse on it.

The ‘Holy’ Rat Infested Karni Mata Temple at Deshnok, Rajasthan

The Karni Mata Temple is home to over 20,000 rats. Anyone is not allowed to kill, hurt, or even scare them away! These rats, or ‘kabbas’, are considered to be highly auspicious, worshipped, and safeguarded. Here, the rats are believed to be the reincarnated relatives and family members of Karni Mata, while, white mice at the place are considered to be her sons.

The Magnetic Hill of Leh, Ladakh

In Ladakh, the Magnetic Hill which is located at an altitude of 11,000 feet above sea level is one of the most unusual places to visit in India. Cars driving up the hill get pulled up of their own and one can drive up here with the ignition of their vehicles turned off!
